(XP from April 2011) First Ultrasound - Possible Second Sac?

I had my first ultrasound this morning. We have one gestational sac with a yolk sac measuring 4 weeks 6 days. That's only two days behind my calculation of 5 weeks 1 day, so I'll take that. However, the Ultrasound Tech also saw something else which she said might be another sac. There's no yolk sac right now, but she said it was measuring a little behind the other sac, so there's no way to know right now. Has this happened to anyone else?

 I have my first prenatal appointment on September 3, and they're going to do another ultrasound then. I guess that means two more weeks of waiting. I'm just excited that Baby #1 appears to be progressing correctly:) A second baby would be an added bonus!

I had a similar experience. I went in for an u/s at 5w3d. They saw one gestational sac. A couple days later I had some pretty bad bleeding. I went in for an u/s and there appeared to be a second sac. However, there was no yolk sac and was behind the first one. They didn't think it was viable which could have been the cause for the bleeding. I went back a week later and the 2nd sac was still there with no change from the last u/s. As a matter of fact, I was in for an u/s at 9w5d and it is still there! I was told not to worry about it as it will not cause harm to the first baby.

Ohhhh twins are so exciting!!! I wish I was having twins!

Thank you for sharing your experience.  I'm beginning to think that pregnancy is all about learning patience.  Here's hoping the next two weeks fly by!
