Adair or Sloan??

Probably the biggest hang up about being Team Green is picking two names!  I think we are set on the boy's name, but not a girl.  And while I am so sure it is a boy, I guess I should have a girl's name too!

I have always loved the name Adair.  It is actually an old family name, but so far back, I really don't consider it a family name.  It is just a name I really like.  But I also really like the name Sloan (way back from the Ferris Bueller days, but since Sloan is a big character on Entourage, it is in the forefront of my brain again).

What do you think?  Sloan or Adair?

Re: Adair or Sloan??

  • I like Adair.  It's a little more feminine, which I like, and kind of old-fashioned, which I am also a fan of.  :)

  • I like Adair the most as well, especially if you have some family ties to it even if it's from way back :)  I know of a Sloan, my nieces classmate.  How are you feeling these days, we're only a couple weeks behind each other :)

  • So they are both girl names? I thought Adair could also be a boys name. I like them both! The cool thing bout Adair (imo) is that you can call her Addie! My favorite nn. I know a girl named Sloan from college who was very cool... Great name. I don't think it matters that the girl on Entourage is named that... At least she's hot. Would be diff story if a character on a TV show who was dumpy had that name!

So I guess I am of no help. What would the middle name be? That might make a difference for me.

also agree that the middle name might sway it one way or the other...

didn't you also say you loved the name annaliese? :)

  • I also vote for Adair. Another nn option is Ada.

I have seen Adair as a boys name as well, but I think I would only use it for a girl.  I agree about the nn Addie & I do love that!  As for Sloan from Entourage, she is just another Sloan that is gorgeous which is why I think I like the name so much!

As for mn, I wanted something hawaiian.  In the running is Kalia, Kalena & DH's favorite Leilani.  (but I am always open to more suggestions!!)

Feeling good, but jealous you are already on maternity leave!!  No seriously, really no complaints.  A little achy & hot, but nothing serious!  Just hoping this baby stays put until his/her EDD or after.  (I want to stay out until after the holidays, but I have to take a lot of leave without pay so the longer this kiddo stays put...the better!)

  • I really like Adair, but I have to be honest - I've never liked the name Sloan. I'm not sure why...it's one of those words that makes me think of other words, and while none of them are awful (loam, slain, that kind of thing) it just irks me. But I'm really weird, so ignore me lol!
  • Love the name adair. I know of 3 Sloans 2 and under from my local group of friends and friends of friends.. Not that that is a bad thing but I it looks like it will be a lot more common as your baby grows up.
