Pre-School "treat bags" ideas for year

Hi,

I've never posted on here before but my son is 2 and is in a day school and I like bringing treat bags for the kiddos for different holidays.  For instance, Halloween, or Christmas, etc.  Any ideas?  And what to get for the teacher's for Christmas?  He has 2 in his room and I really adore them both, but I also really like the director of the school.  I want it to be something they will like so I was thinking a gift card or something but we don't have a Starbucks or anything here, although we have a local coffee shop but other ideas?

And as mom's what do you like or dislike in gift bags your kids receive?  Thanks!

  • For teachers, I've found GCs to general purpose stores -- Target, WalMart, grocery stores, etc. -- are very much appreciated.  They don't get paid that much so those GCs (or cash) are a nice bonus for them.

As for giftbags, I like stickers, little snack bags (like goldfish or nilla wafers; if organic, huge bonus), temporary tattoos and pencils (though she doesn't use them) are okay, crayons, hair clips, beach balls.  I personally don't mind candy or cookies, provided it is age-appropriate, but that is a hot button for a lot of parents.

I don't like little balls or cheap plastic toys, especially if they have small parts that are a choking hazard for her or primarily her little brother.  And the small balls pose an attractive choking hazard for the dog so I tend to discard them quickly.

  • Last year I got the teachers gift cards from OldNavy.com and they were good at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Piperlime, or Athlets.  For favor bags I have gotten many things in the past from Oriental Trading.  I have also made treats ... for example I bought lollipop sticks and put 2 marshmallows on the stick and then dipped it in chocolate and put sprinkes on them.  Then wrapped them individually.  I have also made rice krispy treats dipped half in chocolate and sprinkles.
