Trouble TTC

So mad at my sister's ob: Part 2

I posted a month back about how my sister does not O on her own and got pg on round 3 of clomid with her DS.  They started ttc again 4 months ago and her ob put her back on clomid right away without sending her to an RE to find out why she doesn't O on her own. Her ob doesn't monitor her and tells her to have sex around cd14.  My sister doesn't chart even though I've encouraged her to do so, and she just texted me to say that her progesterone levels were only 7.2 on her 4th round of clomid.  She has a referral to an RE, but what can they even do for her now besides IVF?  I know they couldn't afford IVF since my sis tells me that my BIL is nervous about the costs of just being seen by a fertility specialist.  I'm so scared that her ob blew my sister's chances of having another child.  Am I over-reacting?  Are there other ways to get someone to O besides clomid?

  • She can take injectibles and not have to do IVF.  It is unfortunate that she did so many rounds of Clomid under her OB.  The RE will be able to come up with the right plan for her and do the proper testing she needs to have done.

This.  And I think there's Femera if her RE is comfortable with it.

  • It might just be a matter of timing as well. I didn't ovulate on clomid until cd19 (once not until cd26) and that was tracked with monitoring and charting and that progesterone test needs to be done at 7dpo, no matter what cd that is. We adjusted our timing of sex accordingly. If I stopped at cd14, i would have had no chance and it would have been a waste.

She can try femera (less s/e than clomid) and then injectables. She needs to be an advocate for her own health. Unmonitored clomid cycles are dangerous to her health. Have her read this link...Clomid is not candy!

Exactly! I've tried to talk her into charting and she just doesn't take the time to read up on it. I totally agree she needs to be an advocate.  I'm so glad she has more options than just ivf!
