Not looking to get flamed or start a fight. I'm just bored & came across this info so I was curious what others in the area thought:
I was on Facebook this morning & one of the guys we're friends with posted a picture of the front of a restaurant called the "Tilted Kilt". It's opening on 8/22 in White Marsh at the Avenue. I was curious so I looked it up. To me, it looks like a sluttier version of Hooters (the women have super short skirts, mid-drift shirts that are unbuttoned w/ a plaid bra underneath; aka: lots of boobage).
I guess now that I'm a mom, I think about these things more: I personally feel like it's an inappropriate location for it. The Avenue is a very family friendly atmosphere. Whenever we go there's tons of kids anywhere from little babies to teens. They walk around, shop, go to the movies & eat there. I have no prob with the restaurant itself (I admit, prob not one I'll go to, I don't go to Hooters either; don't need super skinny hot chicks reminding me that I'm NOT super skinny/hot!). I just think it would be better in a diff location that's not as visited by kids (there's a Hooters on Joppa that's it's own stand-alone bldg; not many kids hanging around there so I couldn't care less about it being there.
I'm just curious what your thoughts are on either the restaurant or the location.
Re: NBR (mostly): Thoughts on new restaurant?
Does the location have an outdoor seating area? If so, I think that it probably is an inappropriate location.
I am not a fan. We go to that Avenue a lot and like you said, it is a very family friendly place. This restaurant is a Scottish version of Hooters. Apparently the food is good (I happen to think the Hooters food sucks though.).
My hairdresser is the manager at Bubbles and he made a comment a few months back that the other stores are not very happy about this new tenant. But I guess since they can pay the rent and that storefront has sat open now for awhile, the owner of the Avenue felt that it was an acceptable tenant.
When that place was Bayou Blues, they did have some outdoor seating but I am hoping that this place will not, especially with being so close to the fountains where all the kids play.
Funny you guys bring this up. My brother just got a job there as a bar back and bouncer while he's finishing up college. My mom called the other day to tell me that they had just ordered his kilt. When I asked what the girls were wearing she told me but I honestly didn't think anything of it until now. While I'm not a huge fan of it, it doesn't really bother me. I agree that the avenue has typically been a family friendly place but at the same time they have to look at where their market is. Della Roses ladies night is a HUGE success and I think something like this has the potential to be very successful in WM. Yes, probably better suited for another location on the Ave but (as we hear with everything) the economy has caused things to happen that we might not think is ideal and maybe that is the case with the avenue owners.
I agree with you. I refuse to go to Hooters and will refuse to go here. It should not be in a family oriented place. If it is then they need to put some clothes on their waitresses and hire 'regular ' people too. Im sure that there is not one waitress in there with an imperfect body!
H asked what it was today and I told him. He thought there was a new cool place too go but we will not be going there.
