3rd Trimester

The butterflies have started

Y'all, I'm a nervous wreck this morning. We are at the less than 24 hour mark before my c-section and I am straight up freaking out.

What if I don't know how to calm her?

What if something goes wrong?

What if I suck at being a Mom?

I have waited so long for this that I should be prepared but I am a mess. My feelings are normal right?!?

Deep breaths....

  • You will do great! The nurses are a huge help those first 24 hours. It really is true that mother's instinct just happens. You love Kate and Kate will love you!

Good luck!! It freaks me out that it's your time- means mine is just around the corner!

  • At church a few weeks ago the speaker was talking about how our lives change in various settings.. and he brought up bringing home your first baby. He commented along the lines of, And did you know they actually let you LEAVE with a baby?! haha.. I had that thought too, holy cow someone is going to let us leave with a brand new life 24hrs after he's born with NO instruction manual and just a pat on the back?! I'm sure your feelings are very normal and valid.. but just know you'll do great :)

  • I think all of those feelings are normal! I have had a lot of thoughts like that running through my head the last few days. Everything will be great and you'll soon have your baby in your arms!

  • You'll be fine!  I felt the same way.  I thought it was a cliche but those instincts really do kick in.  And yes, you will eventually make a few mistakes (I forgot to turn on the sound of our video monitor one night--I choose to believe that Betsy STTN that night), but everyone does, and you will be a WONDERFUL mom!  Just think about how much Miss Kate is loved already!

  • LCB, I want to wish you lots of luck, love and health (for you and Kate!) You seem to be quite an intelligent young woman who already cares for and loves her LO so much, so I bet you will be just fine! But then again, I'm 7 weeks away from my EDD...I am sure I will have that freakout moment, too! :) Best wishes!!!
