Telling my boss today

I'm so nervous, just because she is very work oriented and I don't know how she will take the news.  I just started in March and I don't want her to think I'm just using the job for the health insurance.  I hope this goes well.

  • Good Luck.  I just told mine yesterday.  I was so nervous but decided it was a good time to tell him.  I just transfered to this job at the begining of August and was so scared because I don't even really know him well.  I told him that I had to leave early for a doctors appointment that I had today because I am pregnant.  I figured that would be a good way to bring it up and I didn't want to wait another month for my next doctors appointment.  He said "oh congratulations.  I bet your excited."  I mentioned something about just starting the postion and he said it's fine we'll figure it out and make it work.  I hope he was being honest.  As I said, I don't really know him well and he doesn't seem like a very quite person.  He's kind of a pleaser.  On top of it he's mid to hig 40s and does not have any children himself.

    Glad it's done.  Good Luck.

  • I wouldn't worry too much.  I told my boss a few weeks ago and like your boss, she is very work oriented.  But she was extremely understanding and excited to hear about my pregnancy.  Also, I think it's important to let your boss know b/c eventually you will need to take days off for various doctor's appointments and there may be days that you are just too sick to go to work.  Good luck with everything.  I hope it goes well.
