Small vent...

So I'm at work right now... on watch.  Why is it that in the military we are taught certain things for security reasons, and then scolded when we enfore them!

I work in a secure building so you have to have a badge to get in.  If they don't have a badge we can look them up in a computer system to verify they have a security clearance and give them a badge.  The computer system is down, so everyone must have an escort.  A high ranking man comes in and understands he must have an escort, but when I call the high ranking person he is here to see to escort him I get yelled at for not just giving him a badge!!!  GRRRR!!!

 /end vent

DH deploys in less than a month.  Boo.  :-(

  • I would contact whoever is above him.  You were following safety precautions.  A friend of mine who was an airman at the time was working for the AF (watching from a tower) when a higher ranking officer (col) demanded an escort and that she escort him.  She politely explained that she cannot leave her position unattended.  He yelled and got angry and then called the Brig General.  The General came down and stood up for her!  He then offered to watch her position while she drove the col where he needed to go - provided he ask nicely.  Guess who now has a framed apology letter from a certain Col? LOL

  • HA!  That's awesome!  I think sometimes they forget that we're not just junior enlisted, but we're PEOPLE, too!
