This is probably a dumb question but wanted to ask you ladies before I ask on the travel board. When we went to Europe last year we bought a European adapter but it totally fried my flat iron (that was pretty much the only reason we bought one).
Christian said it might not be good for heating elements and that we might try a European transformer. Anyone know anything about this stuff or the difference in the 2? Or if I need something completely different? My flat iron is only 30W. I really don't want to go 10 days without my flat iron but I really don't wanta fry my new one again, lol. Thanks ladies!
Re: XP: Ladies that have been to Europe
There is a difference. There is an adapter that you just plug in and make your stuff fit in and there core converters for high and low voltage appliances (that's the one to use for hair dryers, so I'm guessing that's what you need...but check with the store to make sure which one you need).
Now...in Spain they had American plugs with current surge protectors for the hair dryers...but that might have been the hotel we stay at...it might be worth it to wait until you get there and if there is none, but one there.
Also...remember that the converter for Italy is not the same for Spain...make sure the one you get has conversion for all Europe or at least that you are gonna be able to use it in Spain and Portugal.
Good Luck!
ETA: I've been searching and it looks like converters might still fry your appliances. Some people recomend buying a cheap hair dryer overe there.
