I wrote a post this morning asking about your experiences with returning items to Target without a receipt because I had heard some horrible things. I was really worried because I got a ton of duplicate items and items I just don't need (newborn shoes, etc) at my showers and didn't get gift receipts.
Well, I had to write a follow up because I just got back from Target, and they were GREAT!!! The clerk warned me that the computer may cut him off if he gets to a certain dollar amount of items that weren't on my registry, but I walked out with a gift card for $270! No questions asked. Only about $150 of that was from duplicates that were actually on my registry - so that $70 cap obviously no longer applies. He also didn't ask to see my ID - I just took him my purchase log.
I had to let you all know because it sounds like they may have changed their policies. I had a great experience with Target!
Re: F/U to Target Registry
I'm glad it worked out for you!
The $70 cap applies to no receipt returns, which is still in place, if you do not in fact have a gift purchase log or a receipt. They are basically allowing people to make returns of items without a receipt just by using the gift purchase log... most likely because of all the negative press about their registry!
