Bad News: Well, it's not BAD, but, it's disappointing. My doctor's office will NOT do an anatomy scan until 25 weeks. Boo.
Great News: We heard the heartbeat for the first time today. A strong 150, the nurse said it sounds perfect. Yay!
More Great News: I only gained 1 pound this month. I was nervous!
ETA: I forgot about this. When not pregnant, my BP is on the lower side, typically 118 over 75 or so. At my first doctor's appt, the top number was in the low 130s. Which was the case AGAIN today. I expressed my concern and the nurse had me lie on my left side for a few minutes and then took my BP again. This time, it was 108 over whatever. (I can never remember the bottom number). Craziness. She said she's not concerned at this point, but, I should try to take my BP once a week just to monitor things. Interesting.
Re: Doctor's Appointment Today
I read Bad news - stopped breathing - and then I read about Dr. Office not doing the scan and I started to breath again.
Don't scare me like that Missy
I'm so excited for you that you got to hear the HB today, must have been a wonderful experience
Yay for 1lb!

Katy, have you considered getting a 3D ultrasound package? There are some that will do the gender scan at 17 weeks and then another u/s at 32+ weeks to get some more fun pics of the baby?
I can't wait to find out if you are having a girl or a boy. YAY for the great news!!!
Oops! Sorry Fanny and Dani!

Lib, I'm looking into it, but, I'm having a hard time finding somewhere to do it around here.

That's a bummer that they don't do them until 25 weeks
That's about the latest I have heard. Don't they realize Auntie Kim has projects for the baby that I am working on and need to know the sex!?! Glad you got to hear the heartbeat though!
I would be willing to bet that your BP was higher being nervous about the appts (since they typically do them at the begining) and that you will be fine since it wen't down after lying down. Definitely keep an eye on it, but not so much that you are stressing out about it
I once had a nurse ask me if I just smoked a cigarette before my appointment (yeah right) because my BP was really high (for me) and I was really nervous before that one.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo-ya!
Sorry that you don't get the anatomy scan until 25 weeks but let's look on the bright side-they will know for sure whether there's a twig & berries or just a man in a boat
. Annnnndddddddddd, you will then only have 15 weeks or PG left to go!!
Just to check and see if your blood pressure is starting to creep up, an easy way to see would be to start monitoring your sodium levels. It's in everything (or so it seems) and is easily controllable. Also try to destress a bit, including before your next appointment listen to your favorite music on the radio and possibly on your iPOD or similar device in the drs office. That way you're more relaxed for the visit. I did that after my blood pressure jumped (from 120/75 one visit to 138/74 the next) and it brought it back down to the 120s/upper 70s range two weeks later. I also realized I was stressing about too much crap I couldn't control which I know didn't help my blood pressure any. The reason I wasn't labeled with pre-eclampsia or prone to it when my bp spiked that one time was b/c I was 28 weeks (which is early for that to show up) and also I had no other symptoms.
Not having the anatomy scan before 25 weeks sucks but its manageable. The more people I talk to the more I realize I lucked out when I got to tweak my appointments to go 5 weeks (instead of 4) and get the ultrasound done at the end of 19 weeks. So you're not the only one in that boat of waiting for 25 weeks because I talked to a girl last week about the same thing and we go to the same practice just see different docs. Good luck and it will be here before you know it.
Glad it all went well, Katy! And for the record, you scared the crap out of me too!!!
Sorry I quoted you here! I'm too lazy to go backward, lol.

Yay for a strong heartbeat!!!!! I can not wait to hear if you are having a boy or girl....
Your anatomy scan seems a little on the late side, but every office is different so I would not worry about it....
O.M.G. Annie!!
So not fair to make us wait that long!!! But I'm so glad Baby L is growing happy and healthy!!!
