My husband is taking me to a Thai restaurant for lunch today and I have no idea what to get. I've never eaten Thai food before. I like spicy food but I really don't know what to expect. Anyone have any good suggestions?
IMO PadThai noodles are always good! Especially since you have never had Thai, they arent anything too off the wall. I am jealous our Thai place closed down! I also like anything with the peanut sauce! YUM
I agree with lilbit, pad thai is the best introduction to thai food! It is delicious and nothing too different! Back in college, DH and I would always take friends to a little thai place and start them with the pad thai. They were always hooked afterwards! Enjoy!
I love green thai curry over rice, it can get kinda soupy and it has coconut in it, but that tends to be what I crave there.

I pph Dressing Rama (tofu and spinich covered in peanut sauce) with brown rice and fresh rolls (tofu, vermicelli noodles, carrots, and cucumbers wrapped in rice paper and dipped in plum sauce.)
Now I want Thai food.
Unable to even.

I'm a fan of red curry when I'm in the mood for spicy Thai (I think they can adjust the heat of any curry, but I think the PP had it right that yellow is least spicy and green is spiciest). But you can't go wrong with Pad Thai, even though I wouldn't consider it a spicy dish at all. Pad See Ewe is my standard--great if you like big 'meaty' noodles.
Re: NBR: Thai Rec?
The heat is Yellow Curry, Red Curry, Green Curry right? As far as the order of how hot the dish is?

I recommend:
Fresh spring rolls with the sweet peanut dipping sauce
Pineapple curry with chicken - usually served in a carved out pineapple
Panang curry with chicken
Ginger-Chicken
Tom-yum soup with mixed seafood
OMG, Thai is my one of my favorites!
