Ciarri, Shopgirl. DM, D&R, Purrf, GHM,

And any other mom's of three....

How much an hour do you pay your babysitter? I know we are all in different areas, but I am just trying to get a general idea.

Re: Ciarri, Shopgirl. DM, D&R, Purrf, GHM,

  • $10 an hour for a high school aged sitter. A little more for an older one.

I was hoping you would reply! Do you pay a little extra because of your daughter's Celiac? We pay 20 when they're awake and 15 when they're asleep. But our sitter is 24, has a car, first aid and CPR plus she is familiar with food allergies, as well as how to use an epi pen.

  • The kids pretty much are always asleep when we have a sitter.  If someone does have to feed them, we leave pre-plated meals.  For my girls there's no risk of anaphalaxis just a really pukey, miserable kid.

  • We don't use a babysitter!  My kids go to FT daycare @ 275/wk until school starts next week. DH and I never go out alone unless one of our moms are visiting.   We work something out in the evening if one us needs to be somewhere.

  • We've never paid a babysitter... If we found someone that wasn't family, I'd guess somewhere in the 12-15 range.  (Im in WI if that makes a difference).
