Trying to Get Pregnant

I suck at checking CP. Tips?

Seriously, it it HARD.

I can tell a difference, usually, in texture. Around O, it does feel softer.

But as for position? I SWEAR my cervix is LOW during O. I can always feel it quickly. Maybe because it lengthens? SO it feels closer? I don't know. During O, it is supposed to be high and hard to reach? Not mine. I think my cervix is confused.

Because now, in the 2WW, it feels high-medium - when it is *supposed* be low. FFS, maybe my cervix is not the issue - it is "user-error"!

Any tips or ideas to help me out? Does anyone else find CP to be tough to check or am I the only special one?

  • I struggle with it and can only tell position accurately. I can also tell if it's hard but I can't tell the difference between soft and medium. I also have no idea when my cervix is open or closed.

Since it's a secondary sign, I only note what I can tell for sure because I check CM internally, but I don't rely on it as a sign.

The only tip I've seen on here is to put a leg up on the tub to check, but I'm not sure that helps with your situation. Good luck!!

If you've never had a child before and your cervix has never dialated then it will most likely ALWAYS feel closed. As far as position, you just have to get the hang of it. Like when mine is low I really don't have to reach for it, when its high, I feel like my hand is completely in my vagina!

(Sorry if TMI, L&D nurse so checking a cervix is kinda my "thang" LOL)

  • Yeah, I don't really get it either. I can tell when it's soft vs firmer, but I'm not so great at determining where it's hanging out at.

Okay Mrs. Expert, here are some questions  ... :)

I have had a child, so I know my cervix will always feel open. ANd it does. I can tell some SLIGHT changes in "how open", but it almost always feels like there is an open line on it - like a smiling mouth almost. If that makes sense.

Why is my cervix so easy to reach around O time? I feel like it is >right.there< when I check it. Almost immediately after O, it goes so far up I need extend-o-hands to reach it. Why am I backwards? lol

  • I'm waaaayyyy bad with the high/low thing ... I can tell if its firm, medium and soft.  Today the opening felt much more open than the past few days.

Just do your best and record it when you feel sure!  As pp mentioned squatting in the bath or shower seems to work.

Hopefully this doesn't sound horribly creepy, but MegZRN you have my life. I wanted to be a L&D RN and went to school for a few years but never finished (got married, moved.. the whole 9 yards). Anyway I do hope you love & enjoy your job.
