BF mamas rec your pump please :)

Tell me all about pumps girls.

DH and I are trying to spread out the big purchases and since baby's gender does not fator into this product, we'll but the pump next.

I'll be the first of family/friends to BF. I signed up for a class since there is noone around who will be able to help me. I'm excited to give it a go.

    I have the Medela pump and style...I borrowed it from a friend! It works great, I like it!!

    Exactly this!  This is one of those things you wouldn't want to get used off Craigslist, but I was ok with borrowing it from a close friend.

    I have the same kind.  I was SO glad I had it before baby arrived- I pumped after my water broke to help stimulate contractions and I think it honestly put me into labor!!!

    I just bought the Medela Pump in Style and haven't tried it yet (baby still in tummy incubating).  The only other pump I considered was the Ameda Purely Yours which BRU now carries spare parts for (starting in July according to the rep I talked to).  The main difference for me was that the Medela had a combo dial for adjusting speed and suction (all or none) whereas the Ameda has separate dials for both.  Both have great reviews though, and the Ameda is about $20 more expensive at BRU.  The Medela Freestyle seemed like a good idea but I couldn't justify the price.  The one mom I talked to that had used it loved it b/c she could wash dishes while pumping.

    Also the lactation consultant recommended we bring the pump to the hospital (whatever one you buy) and they would help you make sure that you had a correct fit to try and encourage success in breastfeeding which I thought was a great option.  We were going to wait until after baby was born to buy it until we heard that.  HTH
