Every provider/pregnancy is different. My MW doesn't do them until you're in labor unless you're having complications. Her back-up starts doing them at 34-36wks, depending on the mom and how well she's carried. Because of my history of going into labor early, I've had 4 internal u/s's and 2 internal exams due to early labor signs.
my OB offered at 36 weeks, and i allowed it since he was doing my GBS, however that will be the last one for me since i am having a c-section. i don't need him jamming his arm up my vag to tell me whether or not i have progress when it doesn't mean a darn thing unless you think you are in labor
I will be 34 1/2 weeks at my appointment Monday...so most likely they won't do one yet...?
I would think not. I only had mine at 35 weeks because I lost my MP and has some contractions the weekend before.
I was 0.5 centimeters and 40% effaced.
Oh, you made some progress! Do they think it's at all possible you could go into labor before your scheduled c-section?
There is always a possibility but I highly doubt it. First babies almost never come early. My Peri isn't even doing consistent internals anymore since I am scheduled to have her in 6 days.

Wow. 6 days. Can you believe it? I can't wait to read your birth story!
My birthson who came before I was ready. He doesn't call me mom but I love him just the same. ~7/10/99~
my Dr wouldn't do one until 37weeks she didn't think it was necessary because I wasn't technically full term yet. Part of me I wish she would have done earlier so I could have known if and for how long I have been at the stage i am at now, but also I'm glad she didn't sooner because then I would have been a worried that the baby would come sooner. Anyway did she give you any news?
My OB does not do them because he does not believe they are medically necessary and they only tell you if you are dilated and effaced...not when LO is coming

This. The internal exams don't tell really tell you anything about when your labor will begin. I have no desire to be checked internally and intend to refuse internal exams at regular OB appointments unless there is something wrong.
