I'm scheduled to go in Sunday night to get cervadil (I'm only 1cm dilated right now), then start Pitocin Monday morning. For those who had the same situation, was the night before induction extremely nerve wracking? I'm really freaked out about it. I feel like its going to be terrible staying overnight in the hospital just waiting to even Start Labor. Any tips to make it more bareable?
Re: Question for those who were induced
I was 2cm yesterday and I am being induced Monday 8am (pitocin)
Why r you getting something else the night before?
It's kind of a surreal feeling, because you know you're going to go into the labor the next morning. It feels different than the unknown of going into labor naturally. Either way, I made sure to eat a decent meal before I went to the hospital, because I didn't have much of an appetite once I got there because of the nerves, and then didn't eat again until after I delivered. Otherwise, I would also say to take some movies/magazines to keep you busy until you fall asleep (if you fall asleep). The first couple of hours were taken up with blood draws/monitoring baby/etc. Then my DH had brought his laptop with a bunch of movies on it, so we watched that for awhile. I had a hard time sleeping, but I know some hospitals will offer Ambien or other things to help you get some sleep. I just chose to decline them. I'm sure either way you will be a bundle of nerves (I know I was!). GL!
...lurking from 1st, but w/ experience!
I actually had this same scenarios w/ DS and I actually started having intense contractions around 3:00 am but I didn't sleep a wink before then...I was too excited, nervous, anxious, etc...!
Honestly you just have to try and sleep b/c that next day is intense!
Good luck!
I'm scheduled to go in Sunday night, as well. I'm getting Cytotec and then we'll see where to go depending how that works. (I really don't want Pitocin) I'm only 1-2 cm and 70%. I'm more excited than nervous, though. I prefer the idea of a scheduled appointment, but I'm interested to hear people's responses.
BTW, I have heard that a lot of hospitals give you something to help you sleep (Ambien, etc) since I would think most people are nervous and have a hard time sleeping. If they don't offer, you can certainly ask for something. I'm sure they'd understand:)
