3rd Trimester

On a happy note, so excited!

We bought a house in a new neighborhood and litterally have been the ONLY house in the 50 acre development since january, well today the new house accross the street is closing and they are young with an 8 month old! I am going to try really hard not to be the crazy neighbor but I am so excited to have "friends".  We moved to a country place and took a huge leap of faith that this neighborhood would take off, and we want all young families :)

Also, they are breaking ground on house #3 so I have HOURS and HOURS of backhoe and dump truck entertainment for DS back!

Is it weird to go right over and say hi?  How many days do I give them to settle in?  I really don't want to be the crazy neighbor, lol!

On a bad note, I finally need to buy some curtains...man, that blows :)

Re: On a happy note, so excited!

  •  I would be excited too!!

    A neighbor up the street sold her house and I am SOO hoping that a family with younger kids moves in!!

    I was SUPER excited when the house across the street sold and the WT neighbor moved out and a family with a girl the exact age as DS, and they are BFFs!!

    I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I hope DS gets a friend too! Can't wait!

    I would never buy in a development that under-built.I hope you don't find yourself in a situation where you need to sell your home anytime soon. Here's hoping you get some new neighbors.

    ummm...gee thanks, I know what I am doing though and we love it with or without houses and plan to raise our children in this home.  But I am risky like that I guess ;) It isn't an under-built development, it is a brand new development and we bought the model.  I can't wait for neighbors though and some kids running around!

  • Do you bake?  I find that company is always welcome if they bring yummy things.  I'd get some cookies going and then take some over and be the official 'welcome wagon.'  Hope things work out for you.  How exciting!!!

    Even if it is a new development, you've been in there since January, which means the builder that developed those 50 acres has only sold 2 homes in that community this year.

    That = not good

    Yes, true, there are now 4 lots under though.  It is a different type of market here though.  New developments are extremly rare unlike other states, and this isn't a "first time buyer" type of neighborhood.  But yes, we were disappointed with the first year.  But things are looking good so we are glad.  I fully blame the Realtor for his shitty marketing and MLS sheets! (But I am a realtor and this is not my development, but I am not bitter, lol)!

  • I would totally be excited too! And I would definitely go over, probably with cookies or something. I'd give them 5-6 days to get settled.

  • Thanks ladies, a treat is a good idea, and a good ice breaker, didn't even think of that!  I was thinking 5-6 days was good too.  LOL!
