Take a stab at the "what would you do" post...please! I am flabbergasted on some thoughts and have nothing else to say. If I do say anything, it's not going to be nice at all Your turn!
And good morning...one week away from meeting Kate!
Butting in, but dude, who are these crazy people telling her to stay home?? Loony tunes!
And good morning to you both!
LOL! People with no financial responsibility at all. Those who haven't put much thought into the job economy, the housing market, the foreclosure rate, etc. I stay home so my feelings obviously have nothing to do with SAHM or working moms. I wish all those who wanted to stay home, could. But this girl just cannot drop her own job security knowing her husbands can be in jeopardy.
This is a touchy subject and everyone has their own opinion. Just because you think hers is dumb doesn't mean it is wrong. EVERYONE is in jeopardy of layoffs, can you live your life worrying about a layoff that "may" happen. That is insane! All companies threat layoffs even if they never happen. I think if it wasn't for that lingering then they would be fine like she said, so when do you draw the line and take a risk. I don't think her staying home PT would put them in a situation where her kids would starve! let's be real, some people are willing to give up certain things while others aren't, and that is personal choice. That is all I am adding.

Not true. My company is awesome and I would never be laid off. Not matter how much I wish it to be true.
DH would never be laid off either, in fact, he's getting a retention bonus of a "substantial amount". Quotes because that is what his boss told him.
You should live your life worrying what happens... as you can see she already is. She knows it's wrong but she's looking for people to tell her to do it.
Unless you're willing to give them money when her DH gets laid off then you should STFU. That 6 month cushion of money will run out eventually so who are you to say her kids aren't in danger of starving?
There are homeless, starving children in the US! Telling her to go PT when her H could lose his job could put them in that situation.
Really I am not sure I deserve a STFU. This is just stupid. I don't care how perfect your company is, things always happen and there are things going on behind the scenes you don't know about. They can obviously afford 2 mortgages, once that house sells, I am thinking that would make up the difference. Honestly, I really don't give a fuuck what she does. But I am in a position in my life where I had an extremly stressful job that was making me ill. I was willing to take a $50k salary cut to be home PT with my child and get myself healthy. Yes, it is a huge adjustment, but I would never let my child starve for my own benefit. There is always a way to make ends meet and sacrifices that can be made. I don't think people should be judged on how they want to make those sacrifices. Yes, I don't think people should do that if they are going to be starving but I DO NOT think this is their case unless she is a moron.

She very well could be a moron.
You're making assumptions that they can sell a house. The market still sucks. And I think she mentioned renting it out. Which is another risk altogether. Get someone in there that stops paying and state laws can prevent you from kicking them out -- then you're back to paying two mortgages easily. She's not in a good situation to take risks like that.
Yes, she very well could be But I hope to give her the benefit of the doubt. There are many risks with Real Estate, and I will admit I will come to this with a different opinion because I am a Realtor and this is my life and I am accustomed to taking Real Estate risks and enjoy it, and I live in an area that hasn't been horribly affected by the Real Esate crisis. I just know how much better my life is now with more DS in it That is all, I wish for the same for every mother who wants it and encourage them to take a route that would SAFELY allow it. I do understand everyone's opinion though and don't think they are wrong or crazy, just because I disagree. Thanks for the morning wake up LOL!

I just can't believe some of the crap I read on here! Obviously, she knows what she should do is keep working.
