What brands does anyone recommend for cloth diapers or hybrid diapers? i would like to order them asap since LO will be here soon. i would prefer one with organic reusable liners if possible it seems they save the most money more than the bio refills?
i figured this is the place to go for opinions thanks !!
Re: Lets try this again! .......
We actually just use Green Mountain Diapers' prefolds and Thirsties Duo wraps. We also have been adding fleece wraps, wool wraps, and some fitteds (which I sew, so no brand, sorry!). The fleece and wool breathe more so we use them at night and around the house. The fitteds will be more absorbent for night, since he's peeing more as he gets older. You can either sew these kind of things, or there are plenty of brands or WAHMs to buy them from.
Oh, www.sewcraftybaby.com always has free shipping, and typically pretty low prices (especially on Thirsties Duos).
If you do prefolds you'll probably want snappis as well to hold them closed. Prefolds and fitteds are really popular for newborns. They're inexpensive compared to the All in Ones or Pockets and fit the little babies better. Most people save their biggest part of their budget for the sizes that will last the longest. Also, the newborn prefolds make good doublers and burp cloths so you get a lot of use out of them.
Spot's Corner on Hyena Cart and even Swap Spot and Craigslist are good places to look if you're interested in used diapers. Again, this can be a really popular choice for newborn diapers since they get used for such a short time.
Check out the Eco-Friendly Family blog, there's some great info there:

The Eco-Friendly Family board is helpful too! Good luck, we love it!
It depends on what you want to go with. If you want to do a prefold with a cover, I also recommend green mountain diapers' prefolds (they have organic for $25/dozen), and Thirsties Duo Wraps with snaps. But there are a lot of choices for covers out there...I recommend making sure they have gusseted legs though. I opted to do a mix of prefolds and fitteds (Kissaluvs and Ecobaby Organics Absorbs it all...the latter I'm having issues with drying).
If you don't want to bother with a prefold and cover, you can do a pocket diaper, which has an insertable pad that goes into the pocket. A popular one is the Fuzzi Bunz brand...they come in 2 choices of sizing categories. You can do a One Size (one size fits all) adjustable, or a Perfect Sizing (xs, s, m, L...etc). Economically, I would go with some xs for newborns, and then the One Size thereafter (they don't fit newborns very well).
I don't usually like to recommend hybrids with disposable liners because they may claim to be able to flush, but I've heard so many complain about them clogging up their sewer systems, and you can't use them with septic systems at all.
The Flip system can be used with reusable pads and they do come with organic pads as an option. They are a one size fits all cover, so again, not great for newborns, but a good economical choice when going with a cover and pad. You can also use prefolds in the covers, and get some of the disposable inserts to carry in your diaper bag, should you be somewhere like the mall and need to change a diaper.
