Our daycare starts to transition them around 6ish months. We are starting daycare until 7 months (I am taking a 7 month leave from work) so I guess I will start working with her around 6 months so she is on track with the daycare milestones.
ETA: We just plan on starting the transition then. I have no desire to have her off the bottle completely until a year.
I planned at a year, but I couldn't get rid of that bedtime bottle. I loved that cuddle time before bed where she would have her bottle and I would read and sing to her. So, it was about 18 months before I bit the bullet completely. She could've cared less, it was all about me. All of the other bottles were gone at a year though!
My plan was always by his 1st birthday and he ended up weaning himself right after he was 11 months old. It was great and I hope to get that lucky this time.
DS started drinking water out of a sippy at 6 months. He REFUSED to drink formula or breastmilk out of a sippy...so when we switched to whole milk at a year we got rid of the bottle for good.

At 6 months our pedi recommended giving him a sippy with water or leftover BM/formula at all his solid meals so he could get use to it. By 10 months he was down to 3 bottles a day so I started replacing bottles with sippies and by 11 1/2 months he was totally on sippies. This is also when we tranistioned him to whole milk.
With DD, we introduced the sippy at 6 months, but we didn't get rid of the bottle till she was a little over a year old. She was FF, and it would have been annoying to do formula in the sippy all the time (no measurements on the side of the cup, etc.).
We started DD on a sippy with water at 6 months old, she took to it very easily. We have just started transitioning to soy milk (lactose intolerant DD) and she isn't too fond of drinking the milk/formula mixture out of the sippy yet. So, we are still on bottles at this time but working on getting fully on the sippy by the end of the month.
Part of my issue for waiting so long is DD just hasn't gotten into solids. We've been on purees since 6 months old and she just started branching out in the last month so I worried about her not getting enough nutrition with her being so small (1st percentile). Hopefully with #2, we will make the transition sooner
With DD we started wtih the sippy cup around 10 months & she was off of the bottle around 1 year. She is now almost off of the sippy (would be completely, but she forgets that there isn't a lid on the regular cup & has issues with holding them up.)
We introduced a water sippy around 9 months but it never took off till we moved her to milk in a sippy at 1 year. She never went back to a bottle at that point.
OK, so apparently I'm the only horrible mother out there...flame away! My DS never took a pacifier, and he loves his bottles. We started offering sippies around 6 months, and by a year he would take most of his milk from a cup. We couldn't get rid of the naptime and nighttime bottles (or didn't want to do the work yet) and he was still BFing at those times until 14months. Around 15months, we started puting water only in the bottles. He still takes one bottle of warm water at bedtime and one at naptime.
Now that he can rationalize a bit, we're planning on getting rid of them for his 3rd bithday (before the baby comes). My plan is to take him to the toy store and let him "buy" a toy with his bottles/nipples and become a big boy. Then bottles are just for babies. I have a friend who did this with her DS (but pacifiers, not bottles also for 3rd b-day) a month before their second DS was born and it worked well. At this point, it will be a cold turkey thing and won't be fun! I wish we'd done it sooner!
