This was my top choice for my oldest and I was talked out of it. i still love it and I really don't think that it's going to end up in a lot of Ride-her jokes. How many names have verbs in them. Dashiel, (Dash) Chase, Bob, Neil, Pat and so on.
Any name can get some kind of bad nick name from it and if Ride her is the worst thats not bad.
I like it, we are considering it, probabaly for a middle name. I dont think he will get made fun of cause there is so many crazier names out there! I think its strong and masculine
This was on nameberry's list of Names Other Kids Think Are Cool. So he's unlikely to get made fun of for having this name, unless he warrants being made fun of for other reasons.
Ryder sounds like an athletic/popular fellow to me.
If your child is likely to join a frat, I'm sure he can handle the Ride Her jokes, and will undoubtedly make a few jokes of his own during those years.
And the Rider Strong reference is actually a plus for me. It's not like Boy Meets World was a porn movie or something. It was a wholesome, family show. And Rider was a good actor.
I really don't get how this could be a negative association for anyone. It's not even spelled the same.
Re: Boy Name
This. 100%.
This!
I don't think it's awful... NMS, but not awful.
And I don't think he'd get made fun of until he gets to college and joins a fraternity. Then the "ride her" jokes might happen.
Teehee

For what it's worth we loved Ryder Shane.
I think it's ok. Not my favorite but I don't hate it.
I know one Ryder from high school- he was a huge dude so he did not get made fun of. Ever. Lol

I say go for it!
