charlie's soap - scratchy diapers/cloth?

i have GMD prefolds.  they are starting to feel kind of scratchy.  i've been using charlie's powder soap (only the amt rec.) in a front loader w/ prewash.  anyone else have this happen?  anyone have advice as to how to get them soft again?  should i also extra rinse?  i wonder if it's the soap b/c our flannel cloth wipes are starting to feel stiff too.  anyone use a detergent where this doesn't happen?

  • we've used Charlie's for the better part of a year without issues. Definitely do an extra rinse and see if that helps. You can also try vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser (or a downy ball). It helps things rinse clean which in turn makes the laundry softer.

  • We use BG, but I have been using Charlie's without any problems.  Of course, I have only been using them for about 3 months now, but I have had no issues.  I use just a tiny bit and go through a cold rinse cycle, then I do about the same amount and put it through a hot cycle with an extra rinse and my diapers look brand new still, while I have friends whose BGs don't look as stellar. Hope this helps!
