I am sure all babies go through this, they learn how to stand and since it's a new trick it takes them sometime to get over it and go to sleep.
Well, as you probably know it's different with two!!!.... My guys just learned how to stand, so now, we put them down, they stand and start laughing, grabbing each other, etc....
So my awesome early bedtime is gone!!. I don't know what to do, if I go in and lay them back down, they end up doing the same thing.
We're going from going to bed at 6:30pm, to going to bed at 9pm...still waking up at 6am...and still taking two 45mins naps during the day. So they're more tired and cranky now....because it's not like they are making up for loss sleep during the naps!.
Any suggestions?. Well...maybe I'm looking more for you guys to say "this too shall pass!".
Thanks!
Re: Standing up in crib and not going to sleep!
I don't have two yet but ds did this with rolling and standing...he was fascinated that he could do it and wanted to do it all.night.long! and yes it will pass and you will have good sleepers again....once the novelty wears off :-)
try to be patient...are they ok in their cribs standing or do you have to repeatedly go in there? I wouldn't go in there unless they are crying...even then if I could see on the video monitor that ds was ok, I would let him be because me going in his room was a sign for 'time to get up and play play play'
good luck and hang in there!
My girls are just pulling out of that stage. They would stand and jump and throw their stuffed animals and laugh--sometimes for more than an hour. We used to have their cribs about 2 feet apart--we had to move them so it's not as easy for them to see each other. It didn't last very long, though. They still stand up and laugh a little bit when we first put them down, but it's only for a few minutes. And the past two nights they both went straight down without any playtime!
As far as I'm concerned, as long as they're not crying, it's fine. We did have a stretch where they cried--they'd be so exhausted but would keep standing up--during that stretch we'd just wait 5 minutes between visits, go back in, put them down, until they finally went to sleep. It was exhausting, but I think it was less than a month that we had nights like that. Not bad, in the grand scheme of things.
Hang in there!!
