Baby registry ideas

I am having a little trouble deciding where to do my baby registry.  I am only 13 wks right now but my shower will be in October and I just want to make sure that everyone whom decides to give us a gift has ample time to plan their purchase.  With that said, I have only registered at Babies R Us but want to register at more than one store.  Because I and the majority of my friends and family live south of Atlanta I have found that getting away from the Wal-Mart and Target registries is very hard. Are there any ideas for other good places to register that won't break the bank? Online store suggestions are also welcome.

Re: Baby registry ideas

  • I would do BRU and Target. Reason being, my grandmothers were not able to go as far as BRU but they would gladly shop at Target so I basically did a registry there just for them :-)  For your internet savvy family and friends, Amazon has a pretty cool new feature that I really haven't tried out yet but seems interesting.  Basically, you download this tool and anytime that you see something that you like on the internet you click on a button and add it to your "list."  It can be from any website- not just Amazon.  Sounds like a neat concept, but again, I haven't tried it yet, so no idea how well it really works.

  • We just registered at BRU, which also means people can buy some things at toysrus too and they are much more plentiful around town.  Don't worry about getting your registry done too early, the vast majority of people that bought off our registry did so on the morning of the shower based on the gift receipts.  If you're like us, if you register too early you'll only end up changing your selections a bunch of times anyway because the more you read, hear and research, you change your mind on things.
  • We did the Amazon registry and BRU.  The Amazon universal tool is pretty nice, but it may confuse some people because they'll get directed to other sites and not be able to combine purchases/shipping, etc.  You'll want to check return policies for any place that you add with the universal registry because Amazon's policies won't apply...that said, we're pretty happy with the option and then have BRU for people who want to go into a place.  I sure wish BuyBuyBaby would hurry up and open around here!!!

  • Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like I won't be getting away from Target after all. Smile
