"So, you're all done with kids after this or no?"

Why does it seem that everytime I go to my dr., one of the ladies always asks me if we're done having kids after the girls?? Is it really that big of a deal? Does it matter to them? lol I think it's funny that people are so nosey and brave and just want to know so they ask. I think it's weird that the dr. keeps asking me. I just reply with a "maybe, we'll see how things go" and get a look like "really?!" lol

Anyone else get this?Stick out tongue

  • At my 6 weeks PP checkup after my twins were born, my OB told me that if I wanted to I could start TTC.  I was like heck no.  My boys aren't even out of the hospital yet!  I was a little shocked that he mentioned that considering I just had twins at 28 weeks and that was after weeks of complications.
  • I get this all the time as well. The twins aren't even born yet but inquiring minds want to know. People ask "Oh are these your first?" and I usually sat Yep. First, second and last. Then people will say "Oh no! You'll want more, maybe a girl. " Ummm, sorry to disappoint everyone but we're done at 2. What's wrong with just having the twins?

  • I get the opposite. Everyone asks me when I am having more.  I am honestly done.  There are plenty of moms who do continue to have more kids.  We really only ever wanted 2.

And when you are pregnant people feel you are community property and can ask you anything or touch you any time they want.  It is crazy!

Substitute boy for girl in the comment, and this is us. Right now we're 95% certain we're done. But even if we decide to use our frozen embryos to try for another, there is no guarentee that we'd get a boy and not another girl. Besides, we adore our girls, and my family is perfect just the way it is, thank you.

  • I get that all the time, too. Actually, I got it with just the twins because I had 1 girl and 1 boy so people assumed I would be done. If they don't see my belly, they still say, "Now you can be done!" People are annoying! lol ;)

  • My DH commented last night how he gets this all the time.  I don't ask anyone else when they plan on having unprotected sex with their spouse so I don't think it's anyone else's business.  It a personal decision and if and when we decide we want more children, that's our choice.

  • I get the comment all the time... "oh twins, perfect, two for one and close up shop."  Hm, no, we want at least 3 chidlren!  What business is it to them how many children I have as long as we are financially stable!

  • my DH HATES this question/assumption.  We get it a lot more as a  statement since we have b/g twins.... its like "a boy and a girl?  that's great, your done!"  really?  thats news to me..... its like people think that if you have one of each sex your life is complete.  I kind of get it in way, but I don't know if I am done, I don't need the comment
  • Hah! My last blog post was about this question in its many different forms.
