can we talk bathing together once again...

my kids are turning 1 this week & I head back to work the following week. Back to doing baths alone at night, I'm dreading it.

I know I could actually bathe them together (right now still using the Eurobath) but my issue is more the post-bath stuff.

My bathroom: long, with the sink & toilet along one wall & tub at the end. Only enough room for me to kneel next to toilet at tub to wash off, so if one is in the tub & one out, the out one is behind me & likely trying to walk/crawl while wet, etc.

My only idea so far is draining the bath & drying them both off in there, then carrying together into the playroom for diapers & PJs.

How do/did you do it when they were semi mobile- early walkers/good crawlers?

Re: can we talk bathing together once again...

  • I have crawlers and rollers right now so you are a little bit ahead of me.  I rely on the jumperoo to entertain one while the other is bathing.  Not sure if yours are too big for that now or not.  I put the jumperoo in the hallyway outside the bathroom door and keep the door open so I can talk and entertain one and bath the other.  I do all the undressing and dressing in the bathroom and then make the switch.   Our bathroom is too small for me to ever bath them together by myself.

  • I would wash them together in the tub and then drain the water...pull one out and dry and diaper them right there on the floor and then give them a book/toy to keep them entertained for 2 minutes while you dry/diaper the other and then move on to their room for pjs...GL....I hate bathtime alone...

  • we bathe the same time, drain the water, take one out and diaper/dress them, close the bathroom door and give them a toy while I dry and dress the other one. Sometimes the 1st one wants to "help" and I will baby gate them between the door and me with a few toys and it just goes quicker since I'm not trying to keep one from crawling on the other.

  • Thanks!

I will give it a try maybe tomorrow since I'll be on my own... good ideas re the toys & distractions although I suspect DS will just be climbing up the sink anyway LOL. I have been a slacker & haven't installed the locks on teh cabinet & drawers in there yet too which is another problem. Perhaps that is a project for this evening...

PP- I used to do the jumper outside the door also, although generally at least one of htem would scream the whole time regardless since they were usually tired & wanting the bedtime bottle. Now DS won't really tolerate being in the exersaucer or jumper for any amt of time so that's why I"m trying to figure out a new solution, but it did work for awhile!

  • I would drain the tub and leave one in the tub playing while I dried the other one off.  Then I got the other one out of the tube and dried him off and carried them to their room to get dressed.
