Can 3 days of fevers be teething in a 2.5 yr old?

I know he's in the middle of getting his molars, he's already gotten the bottom two but he's had a fever of 100,101 underarm since Saturday night. I thought for sure today would be the breaking day but he just woke up from nap with a fever again. 

The receptionist at the doctor's office told me it is probably teething if he doesn't have any other symptoms. All I noticed is a little bit of runny poo. 

If he wakes tomorrow morning with fever again I am taking him in but what do you think. Can it really be teething???

I feel like teething them opens them up to minor viral infections and ear infections. =(

I hope the fever breaks and so do the teeth!
