I'm an admin assistant for the state right now. I will be going to law school whenever it seems possible to go back. We plan on having another LO soon after this one so right now Fall 2012 is the plan but I think it will be 2013. I would SAHM if I could in Nov, but after 2 months off, I will work 3 days a week since I have awesome insurance and DH could never get as good of insurance as I have through the state.
I also volunteer about 20 hours a week in the evenings and weekends doing crisis response for the domestic violence shelter. This is the field I will be going in with my law degree. I would get a job with them, but I can't take the huge pay cut or benefits loss.
DH is finishing his grad work up. He is currently an accountant and will be a CPA soon.
I'm a program manager for a non-profit. SO is the founder of a non-profit, as well as a small business and also works part-time as a therapudic mentor. He's a busy guy, but I appreciate the hard work to make our lives comfortable.
I work in Human Resources for a wholesale florist and DH is a Service Manager for a lux apartment complex. I really want to re-open my pet sitting service but will have to wait just a bit for that...

I am an acquisitions editor at an academic publishing house. DH is a patent examiner. Both are VERY niche jobs so we are lucky that things worked out as they did.
Me: I'm an environmental regulator for state government. I will either be a SAHM or go to work part-time for my dad (I'll work from home). It just depends if and when we can get the details worked out. He owns a small engineering firm and I'd be putting together permit applications for the type of activities my agency deals with.
DH: Naval Officer. He's currently on shore duty and will be here when the baby arrives (just throwing that out there because people usually ask if he'll be around).
I am a nursing student and DH is a teacher and also coaches 2 sports (he is also getting his masters right now).....apparently we like to be very busy. I have been doing anything I can online for school, which has been helpful since we have a 3yr old. Clinicals start for me 3 months after new baby arrives.....that should be interesting : )

DH is a NYC cop, I'm a NYC teacher. Therefore, we are both very underpaid...
It is amazing to me! 2 of the most important jobs and most necessary jobs are also the most underpaid. I feel your pain.
What precinct is your DH in?
Yahhhh, it's rough at times, especially when the cost of living is so high in our area! He works in the 52 in the bronx but has been at the bronx detective bureau for the past few months since his shoulder surgery. Which is fine with me - I don't have to worry about him when he's just sitting at a desk all day! Where does your DH work??
Oh well, I'm sure he paid his dues,I'm sorry about the surgery! My DH is in the 103, South Jamaica Queens. He's currently going through the hiring process for ESU. Not an easy job to live with, but I'm very proud!
Well I hope it's ok that I answer even though I'm currently straddling 2nd and 3rd Tr...
I was a Human Sexuality and Reproductive Health Educator for a National Non-Profit. But I lost my job so I'm currently enjoying my time as a SAHM. Due to financial needs, though, I'm also working full-time as a job seeker!!
DH is a Retail Manager for a large national retail chain. Sucky hours, sucky pay...but he's happy and is super good at what he does!

I am a veterans benefit counselor for county gov't. I help veterans get benefits for injuries that occured in service and/or help them obtain pension benefits. I also provide help with working on death benefits, state benefits, and locating discharge information. I am also in grad school part time for my master's degree in counseling.
My S/O is an HVAC sales/service manager.

DH and I met when we were doing Teach for America! We loved being high school teachers, but, as mentioned before, talk about under appreciated! After three years teaching in Newark, NJ, we were both pretty burnt out!
Now, DH is a corporate litigator. While he likes being an attorney, he would really like to do more policy work (and to work fewer hours!).
I am currently an Interior Architect/Designer with my own business. I love design, but the hours (nights and weekends primarily) are not that great for a family.
I also really missed education, so I applied to grad school last fall. I found out that I got into a MS/PhD program in Higher Ed. Admin. at Penn the same week that I found that I was pregnant! My focus is retention rates among low income/first time college students. I decided to defer for a year to have LO.
DH got into an MPA program at Harvard and he decided to defer for two years so that he could come with LO and me to Philadelphia next year! After I do a year at Penn, I can live anywhere for the rest of my research, so we'll be moving to Boston for DH to do his program!
We're both very excited about getting back more into the public sphere and doing some good, even though it will mean pretty severe pay cuts for both of us and some more student loan debt! Oh, well!
DH-car restorer. Specifically 1920 era Rolls Royces'. He is working on a car right now that is going to Pebble Beach in 2 weeks (super fancy car show).

DH is a specialty pharmaceutical sales rep, and I am now a SAHM. I used to be a teacher, but my salary was great as I was on 10th step. It always amazes me to hear teachers don't make enough money. Even when I started off in NYC as a first year teacher (in 97), I was making 50k. Who can really complain about that as a fresh out of college kid. I am sure there are many states out there which do not pay their teachers well, but I have a hard time thinking you are all underpaid...
DH is former military, current National Guard and will be a full time student starting later this month... he's going to school for criminology so he can work in the forensic field. I was a barista at a local coffee shop up to week 34 and then left because we had a LOT of moving to do, plus our birthing classes started at week 35. I will be a SAHM until around January and then I'm going back to school to become certified in phlebotomy. Hopefully I'll start working at one of the local hospitals shortly after!
Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.

Starting at 50k?! I hope to be making that by the time I retire lol! I'm an elementary school counselor (which means a 2 yr masters program, yet I get paid roughly the same as a teacher who is not required to have a masters in NC). I think having a "great salary" is the minority in the field of education.

This for me - attorney that does doc review. Have been fortunate to be at the same firm for a year and a half now - so pretty steady pay. DH is also a lawyer by raining, but is a full fledged developer/investor/business man.
I am currently SAH because I finished my student teaching in the Spring and I starting in a new classroom right when my LO is set to arrive didn't seem very smart to either me or DH.
