36 weekers

I am on a turb pump and they are going to take me off at 36 weeks. I really beleive I will go into labor soon after that. Has anyone had 36 weekers. If so what was your experience? Any NICU time, feeding issues? Thanks!

Re: 36 weekers

  • I have absolutely no experience with this, but just wanted to send out some congrats on making it so far with twin boys, that's awesome!
  • I had a 36 weeker.  He was in the NICU 2 weeks.  He was 4lbs 8 oz at birth.  It took him a few days to perfect feeding.  In the NICU they were also concerned about a couple of Apneas....but he never had one after coming home.

I delivered because of HELLP Syndrome.

Edit- He also had Jaundice but was only under the light for a couple days.

  • I had a 36 weeker. At my 36 week appointment they stopped my Nifedipine. That was at 2pm and I was already 1-2 and 90% effaced. At 11pm that night my water broke and he was born at 3am the next morning (so technically 36 weeks 1 day). He was 5lb. 10oz. and I didn't get to hold him much at first because they had to run tests on him to see if he needed NICU time. I had the steriod shots at 29 weeks when the PTL started. He passed them all and required no NICU time at all. He was slightly jaundice but came home with me at 3 days old. GL a lot of 36 weekers are healthy and require no extra time in the hospital. To look at him now, you would never guess he was a late-term preemie.

  • I was on terb and nifetapine until 36w0d and labor ensued quickly enough that my LOs were born that evening.  I was not allowed to have them "room in" with us at the hospital as they wanted to ensure adequate observation of them.  They did have to go to the "transition nursery" for about 6 hours after birth so that they could be observed more closely, but both my LOs were discharged with me at 4 days old, no NICU time necessary.

They arrived at 36 weeks after PTL and bedrest for 14 weeks. Lilypie Third Birthday tickers image

  • 36w4d here.

He was born weighing 5 lb 13 oz. Issues after birth included a little jaundice and had to be placed under the lights a few times to regulate his temperature. He did not require NICU time. He came home with me.
