.. do I let a 9-yr-old's comment get to me?

We drove home from Wisconsin yesterday, with Michael's 9-yr-old cousin/godson with us; he's visiting us in OH this week.

We're driving, snacking, and he says to Michael, "Wow, you're eating a lot! But you can do that because you're in really good shape."

Then he looks back at me (yes, I let him sit in the front seat with his godfather) and says, "Ashley.. not so much."

Wow, that's pretty rude, even for a 9 year old.  And FWIW, you seem to be in excellent shape!!!

I'm sorry.  It would get to me too, even if it were coming from a 9 year old.

Um, I would have told him that behavior and speaking like that was not tolerated in our household and that it needed to stop.  Or he could walk back to WI.  What did Michael do/say?  Bratty little kid needs to learn some manners!

My SS is 9 and I can't imagine him ever saying something like that, much less to an adult.  But I can't imagine him thinking like that either.

I wonder who around him feels this way about eating.  You know?
