Naptime Question

A and C are about 4 and half months now. They are awake for 1 hr 45 minutes to 2 hours during the day and sleeping anywhere from 10 -12 hours at night.  When they nap it's only 30 -45 minutes, sometimes in the middle of the day an hour. During a typical day they take about 4 or 5 naps, depending on when they get up. We don't have a set wake up time because I am off for the summer, although it's usually between 7 and 8. They go to bed around 8:30 though.

Is this normal for 4 months? Several people have asked about naps and seem surprised they don't take two long naps, 1 am and 1 pm. They've really never taken long naps.

Re: Naptime Question

  • I would die for 10-12 hours at night!!  I say, as long as they're getting 13-15 hours of sleep a day/night total they should be good.  If it's working for you, don't change it.  All babies are different and won't necessarily fall in the the 2 naps a day at 9am and 1pm.

  • Mine napped at all different times for many many months.
I don't think  it was until  they were like 10-11 months old that they took one or two regular naps. That said, mine STTN at 7-8 weeks old, so I didnt care what they did during the day!

I think at 4 months mine were very similar to yours. They could only be awake for like 2 -21/2 hours max and then had to take a nap.
