Prenatal &parenting classes?

Hi, i am registering for my hospital stay and i was just wondering if anyone could give me some "must have" prenatal and parenting classes? What do you guys think is a must for a first time mom and dad? Thanks

CPR. I personally believe it should be required before discharge, if not taken before labor. That's how important I think knowing infant and child CPR is. 

 

Our breastfeeding class was helpful, and DH really liked the parenting class (he had zero experience with babies before DD).

I agree with CPR and basic first aid.  They made us watch some videos before we left, but neither of us paid attention we just wanted to go home.

I would highly recommend a breast feeding class if that is in your plans.  They are usually free and give good information.  Yes there may be/will be people to help after birth, but I wasn't paying a bit of attention.

DH definitely got more out of the baby class, but I got a few things too.

we took 3  - infant CPR - i agree with the others - a must!

breastfeeding - great info and very helpful for DH to hear just how hard BFing can be for mom

childbirth - ehhh - so, so - best part was having us openly discuss our hopes for the birth - got me and dh talking in advance (i'm sure we would have eventually but this pushed the issue sooner)

I also recommend a CPR class.  I also took a childbirth class when I was pregnant with my DD which I liked.

Our childbirth class was very helpful.  I breathed my way through the first 9 centimeters...chickened out when I thought about the pushing so I got a light epidural.  It was nice to know what to expect with labor and what to expect at my hospital.

 Breastfeeding class was also wonderful!!!!
