Registry Question...

Did you put clothes on your registry? I know that a lot of people will just buy baby clothes for showers because it's cute and fun, not because they were on the registry, so I don't know if I should register for them. Plus, I don't know how frustrating it would be to walk into Babies R Us and try to find clothes on someone's registry either.

I'm just trying to finish up all of my research for the registry so that we can do it after our anatomy scan and get it marked off the list. I just didn't know about putting clothes on there.

What are your thoughts, girls?

Re: Registry Question...

  • Babies R Us actually advised me against putting clothes on the registry because their stock turns over so quickly.  The girl told me that unless it was packaged (onesies, etc) to not even bother.  And yes..... I got TONS of outfits anyway.

  • Honestly it is frustrating trying to find clothes on a registry at BRU because they could be anywhere (or it feels that way when you go look them).  Target isn't as bad just because of how the store is organized but sometimes things are out of stock.  One friend told me not to put any clothes on because people buy them anyway.  I started by putting clothes on there and then after I got some hand me downs, I took them off of the registry.  (My shower is next Sunday.)  Because we have so many clothes I actually have a note on the registry stating please no clothes 0-6 months, we have plenty!   I do have socks on the registry because at the time I had none (we have more now).  So we'll see what we get.  Clothes are an easy choice if you can't find anything else to buy on the registry (usually a stocking issue when I've run into it).  In the past I've tried to buy a pack of onesies or that sort of thing if I can decipher the registry enough and just realize that they are out of stock.

    Hope this helps!

  • I would also say no- just because there is soooo much else that you will want/need before that.  When Hayden was just home from the hospital, I pretty much kept her in cozy sleepers & the little komono shirts that they gave us at the hospital (be sure to steal lots of those!)

Like PPs said, people will give you clothes because it is everyone's favorite thing to buy.  You will get tons when the baby is born, too!

  • Thanks girls! That's the direction I was leaning towards, and I appreciate your input!
