Pregnant after 35

I am carrying the baby in the thighs!!!

I'm 40 with my first baby. OMG, I cried yesterday looking for maternity clothes. I am too small to really buy much but I thought I would try to get some work pants.I bought a size bigger than I normally wear and I just keep them up with my belly band.  Destination Maternity was the worst. Only found yoga pants and tanks. So far Old Navy, Gap and Target were the best. I seem to do better at places where I can buy one size bigger than my usual size, not S, M, L.  I am almost 15 weeks and I have gained 6 lbs since the stay I started the IVF drugs, not sure if that is good???? And I have a little round belly but I swear I have gained an inch and a half in each thigh! I bought some Sketchers, shape ups and I thought they were really kicking my butt on my 4 mile walks every day but not after trying on pants yesterday. I know I should just be thrilled about my baby and i am so thankful but I feel disgustingly, unattractive. My aunt works for a PT and she is going to get some inner thigh exercises for pregnant women to me. Rant over, sorry!

  • You are probably retaining fluids or having swelling - I'm 39 and in TX and the heat/humidity made me swell towards the end.  I was mortified at the size of my legs - they were so huge and dimply, ack! - but now that I'm on the other side, they are significantly smaller already.  Wish the pouchy tummy was so easy!  haha!

  • I feel like my thighs are huge too. It's like they are retaining so much fluid. I hope it's from the baby and not my age!
  • The only place I got stretch marks with the first 2 was in my thighs, I am sorry to admit. However, they did go back almost immediately after delivery. Try some yoga type poses with your legs (feet) up the wall. Be sure you are supporting your back with a roll type pillow or a blanket rolled up this way. That helped me tremendously!

  • I think my butt and thighs have grown right along with my belly in this pregnancy. I can't fit in my pregnancy pants from #1 at all and had to go out and buy clothes. I found that cargo style pants with the secret belly panel are the best. They are nice and loose and left room for my ever expanding caboose.

Oh, mine weren't earned by fluid. They were earned by Dunkin' Donuts, Chipotle, and cookies.

Mine aren't fluid either. I eat a low sodium diet 99% of the time and drink at least two liters of water a day. I have a trainer sending me some exercises for pregnancy that will tone my thighs. I need to find some wide, drawstring pants. uugghh!!!
