If your DS has a big waist

meaning big for their size (my DS is pretty thin but his waist measures big for his size, I think he is just big boned) what underwear do you buy?  DS keeps complaining that his hips hurt and I think it is b/c his underwear is too big.  But I do not know what to do, he is just going into a size 4 pants but even 4/5 underwear are tight in his waist.  A 6/7 will be huge in the crotch and butt.  Not sure what to do.

My DS is fairly typical sized, but when he first started wearing underwear, I found that a couple of the brands seemed to run very small.  We finally found boxer briefs at Carters that he loves.  He is in size 4T clothes right now and wears the 4/5 Carters boxer briefs.  They hold up well and are very soft/comfortable.
