We have the Colgate Classica I - its a pretty firm, snug-fitting foam mattress highly rated in Baby Bargains. We got ours from Albee Baby for $120 all in and shipped by using the 20% coupon. We sleep on a foam mattress ourselves so didn't even consider a spring mattress.

I REALLY recommend getting Baby Bargains (it's a book, currently in its 8th edition). I heard about it a ton back in January, and bought it through Amazon because it was so cheap there. It's a huge book full of suggestions for just about every single thing you can buy for a baby...
