North Dakota Babies

:::July Moms:::

Since I think we have had all the July babies by now...how is everyone doing? Is everyone adjusting to being a mom okay? Is your LO eating/sleeping okay?

I hope everyone is doing great! It seems like although very few of our labors went along with our birth plan, we all have happy healthy babies!

Re: :::July Moms:::

  • We are hanging in there.  On the agenda is teaching Josh how to take care of a baby.  Everything from feeding, changing a diaper, getting her dressed, etc.

    Ava is doing great, besides the diaper rash.  She is such a quiet (except when she is hungry), happy baby.  She has been sleeping 3-5 hour stretches at night.  A huge difference from her sister.

    I hope that everyone else's transition to motherhood is as smooth.

  • Doing pretty good here. Reese's sleeping habits are different every night. We have had a few nights that she has slept in 4-5 hour stretches, nights where she gets up every 1-2 hours, and nights where she sleeps for longer stretches, but then wakes up for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night. Each night is pretty unpredictable, which I guess is to be expected at this stage in the game. I feel great physically (besides being tired). I feel like I'm doing well emotionally. I'm learning not to get overwhelmed when I can't figure out what she needs. It's a terrible feeling though! I'm definitely loving being a mommy, even on the stressful days. I hope everyone else is doing well!
  • I feel like I'm finally starting to get the hang of this 'mom' thing.  Of course that means DS is just about to switch things up on me, right?

    Tonight I'm going to attempt to put G in his crib.  He sleeps great in there for naps, but I've never tried at night yet.  I kind of tear up thinking about him not being in our room, but it will be good for us I think.   He's a loud sleeper and it's keeping all of us awake at nights.  Wish me luck!

  • We are doing alright.  I can't say good just since  I am still having a hard time that I had to have a c-section in the end, and I get upset about that sometimes.  I have my emotional days exp. when I have a crap load of pain (I ended up killing my back in labor since I had started with back labor and when the contractions really hit I couldnt stop moving back and forth).  Between the breasts, back and stomach it can be a little much pain all at once.

    BF is finally not hurting as much, hurts like crazy when she latches, but after she is okay.  I got like four hickeys the first few days from this one.  I can't believe she is a week today.  Sleep is interesting.  During the day you can lay her down and she will fall asleep ASAP and be okay, at night though when she knows we are trying to sleep, she seems to wake herself up quickly once she is in bed for a few minutes.  I had a shower yesterday, so we put her in the crib upstairs and she fell asleep in it all by herself.  She is actually sleeping in my arms right now before I try and put her down again to sleep.

    Hope everyone else's baby is doing great too.
