Hi. After a month of slow rising betas, dropping progesterone levels and crappy measuring behind ultrasounds, my RE has finally given me the missed miscarriage dx. I'm too tired and sick to even get into the whole thing, I'm sure you ladies understand.
I am currently on Crinone. My doctor thinks that if I discontinue use, I will pass everything on my own. I really do not want a D&C, I am a rape victim and I just can't take that kind of trauma, even 2 years later. My question is, if you had a missed miscarriage, how long did it take to start after you knew the heart had stopped beating? And if you opted for misopropitol (I don't know how it's spelled, it's the insert you use to start the process), did you find it effective and how long did it take to work?
I'm sorry we are here. I am so angry and bitter right now. I don't even have the words or the strength. It's my 2nd miscarriage in 7 months and we don't have the easiest time getting pregnant anyway, so I just feel like a fvcking failure right now. And I also feel horrible that I want this dead thing out of me, but am to much of a coward to get the D&C.
Re: Not happy to be back.
I had originally thought that they only did the twilight sedation, which with my level of anxiety, would not be workable. I think if I were allowed the general anesthesia, I could do it. But I am terrified of the possibility of Ashermans' Syndrome. It seems to affect more woman who have the D&C done specifically for missed miscarriages.
Christ. I have no idea what I am babbling about. I can't believe I think I will be ok to work tomorrow. But what's the point of sitting home when I'm not even bleeding? ANd I have all next week off anyway.
Sorry for the insane tangent I just went off on.
So sorry for your loss. I had a miss mc 7/19 and chose to take the meds to start the mc on 7/20 instead of waiting. I inserted the meds at 1pm and started to bleed around 6pm that nite...heavy bleeding for about three days and then light bleeding still...my Dr said I could bleed for up to two weeks.
I opted for the meds because I couldn't stand the thought of just waiting for it to happen and I wanted some control.
Again so sorry that you are here hope this helped.
This... I took mine at 8 pm and passed everything at 2 am. The cramping was not as bad as I was told it might be and it worked really well for me. Other women here did not have as good of luck and still ended up getting a D&C.
I am so sorry for your losses... Your in the right place with tons of support
We love and miss you Jillian (18w) and Peanut (6w). Welcome to our TAC miracle Jacob!
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
T&Ps and ::::::::::::::::::huge hugs::::::::::::::::::::::
So sorry for your losses. I had two natural m/cs. Both came within a week of the doctor finding the problem & no HB. This last one there was a HB at 6 weeks, none 10 days later the u/s indicated no HB, then 5 days later it started to come out naturally. So I am going to guess it could take up to 2 weeks. For me that might be torture from a HB to the natural process if I knew the whole time.
You need to make the decision for yourself, but once the HB stops you might want to take the drugs that start the process to make it go quicker. My doctor didn't give me the drug option, so I have no experience with it.

I had a very similar situation. My doctor gave me the 3 options. I chose the medication. I took it at 8:00 PM and was bleeding by 10:30 PM that night. I went in the next morning for a followup u/s and it showed I had already passed almost everything. The cramps were pretty bad, but they gave me pain medication for that. I bleed pretty heavily for about 6 days and then it lightened up and went away a day or so later. I took 3 days off from work. That was enough time physically, but mentally I should have probably taken more.
I'm sure you will make the best decision for you. So sorry for your loss!!
I didn't have a missed M/C but I did have to have a D&C after I gave birth to get the placenta out and they did knock me out with a spinal. I believe at your gestation they give you general but either way I am 99% sure you are out. I hope you are able to M/C naturally if that is what you wish but I wanted to let you know that if it does come down to a D&C you are out for the procedure.
I am so sorry for both of your losses. HUGS
I'm so sorry.
I also had a missed m/c. I had an u/s at 7w1d which showed a heartbeat and seemingly-healthy baby, but baby did measure almost a week behind. I started bleeding at 8w5d and u/s showed no h/b and baby measuring at about the same as previous u/s. So baby probably died shortly after first u/s.
Start of bleeding (naturally) for m/c was on a Friday. Sunday it got stronger, but Monday AM u/s still showed "nothing significant" that had passed. I opted for Misoprostol which was inserted by the doc. 3.5 hours after insertion I passed the sac and most of the blood clots. I had painkillers and was still slightly uncomfortable, but not too bad. By the u/s the next morning, "everything significant" had passed. I continued to bleed for just over 2 weeks, but not anything like the first couple of days.
PLEASE don't feel like a failure; this is not at all (!) about anything you did!!
