We recently went camping in Cooper Gap in Dahlonega--it is near the Wasega 4H Center and the Frank D. Merrill Ranger Camp. It's beautiful! As far as the actual town, I honestly don't really have a lot to say I'm not much for the tourist-y type activities but, I know you can do the panning for gold for pretty cheap--I want to say it was like 7.50 a person. Most of the restaurants on the square are a little pricey for what they are (burgers, pizza, ordinary stuff)--at least $10-12 per person.
Most of the restaurants in town are not that grand, like in PP, burgers and Pizza. There are some winery's around that are good but I would't drag the little ones there. My parents live close, I'll ask them what they recommend and let you know.
