Any tips on putting a baby to sleep... in utero?

S2 is quite the wiggle worm. I love it, don't get me wrong, but as he's getting bigger (and stronger) it's making my participation in meetings a bit more challenging. At this rate, I think he's planning on trying out for Stomp when he comes out.

I'm not interested in keeping him asleep all day long, but is there any way to calm him down occasionally?

  • Car rides seems to quiet Lil' M down, but I'm guessing that won't really work if you have meetings to go to. :)

Last night as I was brushing my teeth to get ready for bed and the baby was having a dance party.  So, I tried swaying back and forth to see if he/she would calm down...no luck - LOL

  • Riley always naped after a big meal that was low in sugar. I would try that.
  • I remember writing a blog post about K doing that to me, heh. Now Sprout keeps me awake at night because that's his chosen party time.

I've read that movement is what puts fetuses to sleep, and stillness causes them to wake -- that's one of Dr. Karp's founding principles for the fourth trimester. Maybe you can dance during your meetings :P

LOL, was going to suggest the same :-)

I'm just shaking my head right now.

I bet $5 that people in your meetings would be amused. ;)

Is the problem that it distracts you?
