Baby shower games or activities?

My mom is throwing me a shower in MI. at a restaurant. Was looking for a few games or activities that get people engaged and having fun, but not super cheesey or overdone. I will check the Baby Shower board as well, but you all always have the best ideas!

Re: Baby shower games or activities?

  • I recently threw a baby shower for my sister and we played a couple of games that everyone seemed to like.

My favorite was the baby food guessing game.  Buy about 9 jars of baby food with single ingredients (apples, pears, carrots, peas, green beans, etc.  No turkey with veggies and such).  Use a sharpie to write numbers 1-9 on the lid, make a key of which jar is what.  Remove the labels.  Give everyone about 5 minutes to guess the baby food, the most correct wins!

We chose to keep the jars closed, so everyone guessed based on looks alone, this way my sister could at least use the baby food if she wants.  Some versions allow the guests to taste the food.

We also did the baby word scramble and gave everyone 2 minutes to unscramble the words.  This might be a good game for a restaurant since everyone will already be sitting at a table.

The last game was where everyone guessed how big around she was.  I used yarn instead of toilet paper.  Everyone got to cut off a length of yarn for their guess, and then I measured my sister at the end.  The closest to the piece I cut was the winner.

  • We did the game where you guess how big around too.  We actually bought some plastic tape (kinda like police line do not cross tape) that was designed for the game at a party store.  Another one is to give everyone a clothes pin when they come in, they clip it to their clothes.  Tell them that they are not supposed to say the word "baby."  If you catch someone saying the word baby, you get their clothes pin, whoever has the most pins at then end gets a prize.
  • We did one at my shower where you give each person a list of animals.  You then have to write the name of the baby animal next to the adult animal.  For example, next to kangaroo, you would write "joey."  Some of them were common animals and some were more unusual.

I've played another one called The Candy Bar Game.  There are two ways to play.  FIrst, you can buy all of these candy bars and tape them to a big poster board.  Or, you can buy the bars and pass them out to people if they guess correctly.  You read off each clue, having the guests either write down their guess (if you did the poster board version) or shout out their answer.
