Just wanted to let everyone know that my niece-in-law Elsie is doing MUCH better after the weekend!! She's had one chest tube and her breathing tube taken out, and her BP seems to have stabilized but may be a tad high now, per her mom's update. And I think Mom and Dad even got some rest!
Here's her mom's CaringBridge update from last night, for those interested:

What
a wonderful day we have had! It's crazy what "wonderful" means when you
are in the ICU world
Yes, I know I said I wouldn't bother you with
too many updates, but I just can't help myself.
Elsie is moving
right along, and her strength is absolutely amazing. She had 1 of her
chest tubes removed this afternoon and didn't even cry! I held her hand
and told her that she just needs to hang in there because everything
they do will help her get better so that we can go home. She said "I
know" and just squeezed my hand while the doctor quickly took it out.
They have also removed 2 IVs and reduced her medications & fluids.
Please
pray that her strength and peace continue, and that God continues to
wrap her in His arms of comfort. Her blood pressure is too high
tonight, but we're hoping her heart is just adjusting to the repair and
the medicine.
She's had ice, juice, and applesauce today which
is great, and we're hoping to move to our own room tomorrow. Elsie also
got to watch Mickey Mouse movies with her Aunt Ansley this afternoon
which was a real treat.
I can't wait until I can pick Elsie up and hug her, so hug your families a little extra for me tonight!
