We turned ours off on Saturday b/c it was only in the 70s and so we aired out the house. It was fine during the day, but last night, both our girls had a horrible time with sleep and kept waking up very unhappy, and I couldn't get to sleep myself b/c I was just too hot.
Once we turned the a/c back on, everyone slept peacefully. We won't be trying that again until it gets a lot cooler!
We have to have it here in GA. The last few days temps in the low 100's and high humidity making it feel 110-115. It's dangerous not to have it here too.

VITAL! Especially since I am already a hot-natured person as it is!
I went to my first class today, and the A/C was out in the building. It was awful, and it felt like the HEAT was on. Needless to say, we had to move class to another building. You can't function without it. They have "Cooling Stations" around here (downtown at the Civic Center, local auditoriums, etc.) in the summer for homeless people, because the heat can be so dangerous.
My mom lives in Ohio and doesn't have a/c, which is fine. But she doesn't even use it in her car!
i am going to offer a different perspective. i live in ohio and in the summer no a/c is NOT FINE in our house. dh sweats like a pig and it is unbearably humid in Ohio in the dead of summer.
