I'm still on the hunt for a duvet for Ava, and an idea would be to snazzy up a couple of plain flat sheets (full or queen size) sewn together as a duvet.
But I can't seem to find JUST flat sheets anywhere. Especially in colors (coral?) They're all sold in sets.
Help! buying two sets will be just as much as buying a dang duvet then!
Re: Can't I just buy a flat sheet, not the whole set?
Have you considered picking out a cute fabric at a fabric shop or online? Sometimes they do come in large bolts that are sheet sized. If you're going to sew them together anyway, it wouldn't be too much extra trouble.
Have you checked online?
I'm currently in the same process right now - trying to figure out how we'll decorate the new "big girl" room... and an "I'm not a baby but I'm not a big girl yet either" room.
there's tons of fabrics, but not wide enough to be wide enough, KWIM? I can sew, but I'm already half done and stuck on the screen porch stuff... too many projects that won't get done.
Reems, I'm keeping her sage/green walls and just changing the accent color from pink and cream to hues of coral and lime/chartruese. (I was going to go purple, but I had Kohls cash to use up and found a cute sheet set there cheap!)
It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to get a couple full size sheet sets, b/c goodness knows she's going to have a couple accidents at night and the extra fitted sheets will be nice.
I'll head to walmart post nap. we need a new goldfish anyways. the other one is "at a party" and sooner than later she's going to figure out he's not coming back home. snort.

This.
I actually saw them there yesterday...they are being sold in that "off to college, need to decorate my dorm room" kind of way.
Ditto this.
Or, you could do two fabrics -- alternate in huge stripes (like three or four horizontal stripes per side) -- it would be as easy as sewing a few seams!
