Two Under 2

Confession: I'm a 2u2 snob

I can't help it. A friend is having 2u2...they'll be like 22 months apart. She's freaking out about how close they will be and if she will be able to handle it. Of course I give support - but I'm thinking....puhlease...#1 will be walking and talking and basically no different than a 3 yo...haha! I'm bad.

  • when you put it that way...you're right!  But, I think that is something we have to experience ourselves b/c right now I'm thinking the same thing! lol

  • That's funny.  There's definitely a 2u2 hierarchy.  I bow to the women with 13-15 months between their kids, and mine are just under 17 months apart, so anything more than that seems like a piece of cake.  ;)  Kidding about that, as I think two (3, 4, 5) kids are hard no matter WHAT the age diff, but I do know what you're saying.

  • Oh yeah - being outnumbered by your kids seems nearly impossible to manage. I don't know how people do it!

I'm similar, even though mine are 18 months apart.  My friend has a 2.5 yr old and just had twins a few months ago and posted a FB status that said    "3 under 2, here we are!".  I wanted to correct her and say "3 under 3"... but I held back:)

  • Well that's just dumb, or at least bad at math : )
  • I'm not at the snobby stage yet, but I sure will be.  I feel a special closeness to strangers when I find out they have 14/15 months apart.  As if they need to be my instant sympathetic friend and that they can teach me things my current single baby mamas can't.

That said, my high school best friend just had triplets...cannot imagine.

  • I thought I was with 2U 20 months, but now I will have 3 under 30 months....Indifferent

I do a lot of nodding and inner eye-rolling!

  • In the beginning (newborn) stages, yes, there is a difference with a couple of months. When your kids are 13 months apart and 3 and 4, or 18 months apart and 3 and 4, or even 22 months apart, it really doesn't make that much of a difference.

I've gotten over the snobbery! LOL!

    LOL!

I felt the same way at first. Also, I felt the same way when I got PG with #3, and my kids were all going to be about 1.5 years apart. When someone else would tell me that they had 3 kids in 3.5 years or 3 kids in 4 years, I would think "yeah, but mine are closer"! LOL!

  • ha...mine are 5.5 months apart but I would take that ANY day over someone whos kids were 13/14months apart.  I would HATE to have a newborn and a young toddler...yikes now thats hard work.
