Michael Allen is pretty set in stone but for girls I'm fluctuating between the two.

I think so too. I'm pretty sure that's what we will go with. I just like bible names and my great grandmother was Josephine Eliza.

I love your boy name - Michael is my grandfather and a name we will use if we have a boy one day.

I like both of your girls name. We're going to use Elizabeth for a potential girl, so I vote for that. Josephine is a lovely middle name. My mom almost named me Rebekah!

I love that spelling of Rebekah. Are you a Becky or anything? I don't want a Becky. Bekah is ok. Even Reba is ok but not Becky. It reminds me of Roseanne.

I love the NN Eliza! or even Liza. Rebekah is NMS. I usually dont care how people spell names but that spelling always hurts my eyes. But to each her own. But I like the NN Reba.

Its the bible spelling. I get that its harder and not as common but I prefer it to Rebecca. Hopefully she won't hate us if we do name her Rebekah.

Were you asking me this question? My name isn't Rebekah - my mom said that she was torn between Rebekah and the name she actually gave me, when I was born. That said, I doubt I would have gone by Becky. Bekah, maybe. I much prefer the full, formal name! I love the spelling, too.

No problem No, you're not crazy for not liking Becky. I think it's a risk you take with any name that lends itself to nicknames, though. Your Rebekah might decide that she LOVES Becky and wants to go by it, you know? Our boy name is William, and we're going to go with "Liam" right off the bat because I do not want people to call him Willy, Billy, Will, etc. Who knows if it will work, though!

Oh, and I know two Rebeccas. One goes by Becca and the other is Becky. So it seems to be a name that gets turned into a nickname a lot!

Also, FWIW, my best friend is Rebecca and has always gone by Becky. Her mother HATES it and NEVER calls her Becky. Only Rebecca and Becca. Still... my friend prefers Becky and goes by that socially and professionally.

Just something to think about. If you really can't stand a super common nickname for a formal name you may want to avoid it. You never know when your daughter might rebel Big Smile .
