Max has been miserable the past few days. We went on vacation, and he did so well, slept like an ace for naps (even snuck in a 2 hr. one!!) and night time he did so well in the pnp.
Since we've been back he's only taking 20 minute naps, and been crying like a madman 30-45 minutes after we put him down for bed, then takes another 15-45 to get him back down just to get back up in another 30 min. Ughhhhh. He's been unbelievably clingy as well.
I know he just cut 2 teeth, but he's had a fever since tuesday and probably off and on since thurs. of last week.
I hear mixed reviews about teething and fevers, so not sure if I should involve the pedi. wwyd? I'm seriously sleep deprived, and at my wits end. He just looks miserable at times, which is breaking my heart! : (
Re: Losing my mind.
Sorry he is so miserable
Has he already cut other teeth without a fever? If so, I would definitely take him to the pedi. Actually, I think I would take him in anyway. Since he is waking so often it could be that he has an ear infection (which hurts worse when you lay him down). I assume you've tried ibuprofen? It can't hurt to get him checked out. Plus, we're coming up on a weekend, so you may be able to avoid an ER trip if it were to get worse over the weekend.
Hope you get some good sleep soon!
With Evie, I have found that after traveling she has an adjustment period that sounds a lot like what Max is going through.
And as for fevers and teething, at first Evie would just cut teeth. But as she got older (or maybe as her teeth got bigger?) she would get a fever, diaper rash and be generally inconsolable. At first we would involve the pediatrician but she put Evie on antibiotics because she said Evie had an ear infection. (I don't think she did, she was cutting back teeth)
I would call the pedi if this is the first time he's had a fever with teething.
ITA. Get him checked out with the pedi. Hope things improve soon!
::weighing in late:: Yup, call if you haven't already. HC gets ear infections sometimes with just a slight fever, but the hallmark sign for her is an interrupted night's sleep. Hope he feels better soon and you get some rest!!
