celebrating small accomplishments! :)

What are your LO's accomplishments this month?!?!?!

Let's all celebrate!  :)

Aiden learned to drink from a straw cup yesterday!  Yay!  We had been using the bear straw cup for a couple weeks (been trying sippy cups for a few months with no luck)- yesterday he drank from a normal straw cup! YAY!! He is still finicky about what kind of straw cup- but great progress!

  • Carter is down 1/4 liter of oxygen in hopes of weaning him off of it! His nurse came and his oxygenation sats were normal with the less oxygen. Can't wait to get him off...but in the meantime we will just celebrate the progress!

  • C has said some new words including tight (referring to diaper and shoes), black, white, purple, what (says this when you call his name) - and maybe a couple more that I'm not thinking of.  We celebrate & are grateful for each and every word!  =)

    Great post, btw.  =)

  • Great post!!! So proud of all these kiddos. :)

Dean, as I posted below, is crawling!!! This is so exciting and much earlier than anyone predicted (except me :)). He is eating all age-appropriate foods now and is starting to pull up on couches, etc. yay!!

  • Hey, that straw cup business is AWESOME - changed our lives!  Go Aiden!

DD is stacking blocks!  Not 100% accurately, but gosh darn it she can stack 4 blocks on top of one another!  And not the big ones, the little 1" square ones.  She looks so proud of herself too, and claps for herself when she does it.  :)

  • YaY! these kiddos are awesome :-)

Annabelle started reaching for her hanging rings in her bouncy chair and actually grabbed them a few times. She also started focusing on our faces a bit more :-)

Mommy to an amazing toddler who happens to have had a stroke, bleed, hydrocephalus and CP... and is kickin' it's butt :-)
  • Yay for our kiddos!!  I love reading all the great things they are doing- totally made me smile!!  :)

2 weeks ago C said "love you" for the first time!  I know it's not spontaneous yet and he was just repeating me but it made me teary.

It will come spontaneously. That is how my ds started out! He had just turned 3 when he said it, it was music to our ears!

Today, my mom picked up ds from therapy and he was upset because he wanted me. He was fussing, crying a bit, and my mom tried to cheer him up, and she got some smiles and laughs out of him. Then he says, "stop grandma, I'm trying to cry!" Hil-a-rious!

  • Yay for all the accomplishments!! My DD finally is going from sit to hands and knees and hands and knees to sit. When she is in crawl position she rocks back and forth like crazy. This is huge bc I thought she was never going do it. So next is crawling and I know she will get it soon :)
  • Found out that DS's enlarged kidney is back to normal!  Woo hoo!

He's also doing great at PT.  The therapists are just thrilled with his progress.  He's only 8 months old and I'm already so stinkin' proud of him!  Love being his mama!

  • Great post!

I would say DS' accomplishment for the week is increased head and torso control. He is really working hard to sit up for longer periods (with support).

  • Aw, I remember you posting a while ago about working at this!  Yay!!

Ty's accomplishment this week is increasing his head control when he's upright.  He sat in his bumbo today and held up his head all by himself while he played with his toy!  I love small accomplishments!!

  • Doug drank 30 ml of water from his sippy cup! It's the most he'S drank in his whole life!
  • Michael started eating puffs!  Yea!!  We have been working on table foods for a few weeks now, and this is the first time he has chewed, not gagged, and swallowed!  Maybe we can start some new stuff this week!

Also, he is crawling so much better.  He still isn't hands and knees crawling like our PT would like, but he is definitely getting around better (and faster).

  • Love hearing all of the positive stories!

We got approval to start transitioning from 24 hour continuous g-tube feeds to intermittent-higher does and then bolus feeds! As for things more in her control, DD fell asleep in my arms twice in the past week... HUGE progress from not letting us hold her at all! . . . She almost has sitting back. AND....

DD has not thrown up in over a week! Yea!!! = )
