Buying Maternity Clothes

I'm almost 6 weeks with my first, and not showing yet. But I would like to buy some maternity clothes, just to have some ready for when I "pop" out :). Does anyone know what sizes to get? I looked at the maternity clothes at Target and they run XS-XL...should I get what size I am in regular clothes? Or do I just have to wait until I can try them on with my big belly? :) Thanks!

Re: Buying Maternity Clothes

  • All that i have seen say to get the size that matches  your prepregnancy size.

  • Yes, get what size you normaly wear. I love mat shirts but the pants are horrible (they always fall down and I am always having to pull them up). I will suggest the pants with the full panel because they will grow nicer with you in the later trimesters.

  • thanks for the advice ladies!
  • Most of the sizing is based on your size pre-pregnancy. I also found the full panel pants to stay up and accommodated the growing belly nicely. Also, Target had (a couple years ago anyway) pants that had elastic in the sides that you could adjust (button with many holes, like toddler pants have) those also helped to keep the pants up and could be worn throughout the pregnancy.
